Map Poetry - Issue 2

Map Poetry is a quarterly zine published by Will Tucker with the help of University of London.
For Issue 2 I was asked to redesign the brochure and come up with the poster, which was a very enjoyable and fun process! Get yourself one - the poems are lovely!

First Love

He kissed my forehead driving along the coast in evening, and now, wherever I go, like the sword of Damocles, that greater never-to-be-given kiss hangs above my doomed head. He took my hand between the two shabby front seats of the Ford, and it was dark, and I was looking the other way, but now that hand casts everywhere an octopus shadow from which I can never escape. The tremendous gentleness of that moment smothers me under; all through the night it is centaurs hoofed and galloping over my heart: the poison has got into my blood. I stand on the edge of the cliff, but the future is already done.

2011

The year is ending with me having some allergy - this morning I woke up with my face looking like some unsuccessful botox injection to all possible places. Im chewing on plain rice praying that it will go away in the next two days for the New Year party.

2011 has been intense, even though it started in a pretty old fart way - the celebration was in bed, with ear plugs in, trying our best to sleep.
A few years ago I would have never imagined being where I am now.
Living in London, working, drawing. So many things gone through, many people met.
There doesn't seem to be any sense or direction in all that anymore - now that I am here on my own -
away from my family, my friends, and with no more boyfriend.
Accumulating various books, gig and cinema tickets, travel cards, photographs - all to remind that it did actually happen. Sounds pretty sad huh?
Nonetheless there have been plenty of great memorable things in 2011, but every time I'm trying to put these things down in one list I get very confused and mix things up with 2010 too - basically the last over two years have been like a big chunk of time - and what good time it was! Fruitful! Fun! Fab! Fantastic! Fascinating! Almost ran out of F words.

Well, lets hope the next year has lots more great things stored for all of us!

Hellidays

I am on holiday till early january and am locked up at home ill. Very sad to be ill during holidays.
Good thing is - plenty of time to draw/paint/watch films.

Wishing myself to recover very soon!

Reading Nude

Here's a fragment of the painting I have finished working on today.
The close-up seems rather rough, but that's the nature of wood and I also ran out of sand paper.
Discovered the marvellous effect of tempera paint against acrylics - it also reflects light when
scanned in a rather nice way - in daylight the blue looks much darker and less contrasting.
I like both though!

Reading is nice

It's getting cold and foggy outside. I'm sorry, but this english weather can be pretty stupid.

What would I do without books? Probably draw! But at least with books I have a choice. 

This weekend was spent wrapped up, continuously drinking tea after tea, 

reading lots and drawing not so lots. 

Angel Christmas fair

Me and Ekaterina Trukhan (whose lovely artwork is used for the flyer above) 

will be participating in this years Christmas fair in Angel 

Its open free of charge over the weekend and sure to have plenty of nice 

stuff to get as presents for your nearest and dearest! 

You are welcome to come over to meet us and treat yourself for some lovely bits and bobs.
